Veterans’ Day

Every year Green Valley Elementary puts on a phenomenal show honoring our Veterans and this year was no different.

Although I had technical difficulties with the camera, I did manage to record a portion of one of my favorite songs they do called “We Are Proud of Our Veterans”.

View the movie here.

There is also a wall of Veteran’s at the school and I snapped a pic of everyone’s name in our family.

It’s quiet…

It’s Tuesday, November 8th. What’s that mean exactly? Two things really. It’s election day so that politicians and their voice recordings will end after today for a little while and the kids are out of school. The last time they had a day off, I was ready to sell them on the black market. We sat down and talked last night and laid out a schedule for today and they seemed to be interested in making sure that I was able to continue working today. (That threat of daycare works!)

But the best thing is…they aren’t up yet! It’s 7:13am and most of the time, they are coming in to wake me up on their days off but not today. I’m sitting here in the peace and quiet, enjoying my coffee and catching up on email and message boards because I’ve been so busy the past couple of days. I’m not complaining, that’s a good thing… :) (But you can tell by looking at my desk that I’ve been busy!)

I’m going to enjoy the peace and quiet just a little bit longer until they get up and start their day…but this is nice. I wasn’t expecting it!

Until next time…

The leaves are changing…

Last Saturday we took the kids for a drive on the Parkway to look at the leaves. They were beautiful and Tim had his father’s old 35 mm camera that he wanted to try out…(it’s a GREAT camera…nifty lenses and everything!)

So here are a few (ok, alot of pics that we took)…between Tim and I, we got quite a few…I think Tim stopped at every over look. We took a tour of Bent Mountain and then headed to the Peaks of Otter for a picnic lunch…and then rolled down the hill, yes, even me… :)

I love this time of year!

Unwelcome Guest

I want to leave my home and not return. There’s a dead mouse in my dining room. I don’t know how he got there, but he’s there and he’s right in the walkway between the kitchen and the dining room. I called Sondra to come remove him. She’s sleeping. I emailed Tim at work to tell him I wasn’t moving it. I’m halfway tempted to go get Matt from school so he can come home and dispose of the nasty little thing.

I put a bowl over him and moved him out of the way so I can walk and so that I don’t have to look at those beady eyes…I’m gross out, I’m disgusted, this is horrible.

I don’t know how he got there. He wasn’t there this morning while I was having breakfast with the kids. I’m sure of it. If he was one of us would’ve seen him…her…it…I don’t know. What I do know is that I don’t want mice (dead or alive) in my home. At least when they get killed in the trap, the trap is under the sink or in the pantry and I don’t have to look at it while I’m walking around in my own home.

I’m grossed out…this is horrible and I want it gone…ewwwww…

Until next time…
