Has Anyone Seen Tim???

I’m looking all over the house for him last night when I happened to see the light on in the shed…

So I trekked up there and low and behold…I find him.

Now I knew that he had temporarily fixed the roof up there yesterday afternoon and that he was cleaning it out and organizing it…however, I didn’t expect to find such a nice workshop up there… :)

Look what he’s done!

Tim's new workbench

Yup, he’s installing the vice we got from Mamaw last December…(like over a year ago December)

Reorganized shed

I guess I’ll never see him now…he’s got a place to escape!!!

Until next time…

More Great Danes!!!!

The weather was beautiful today (in the 60s — rare for southwest Virginia in January!) and so we decided to get together with another Great Dane owner. I shot a note out to the group and we had 5 families show up! 7 Great Danes, 2 other dogs, and 6 kids, and one baby! It was GREAT!

Here’s a video of Tim crawling with Harley…

and here is Tim and Spartacus…

Peer Pressure Sucks…

Excuse the language, but I’m in a quandry.

I have a son who loves to be loved and wants to make everyone happy. He gets that from me. But today it bit him.

There’s a boy in his class that he wanted to be friends with however this boy would only be friends with him if he kicked another child. Yes, my son kicked another kid.

Matthew came home and told me he pulled a “pink card”. Because I’ve never heard of the pink card before I had to ask if it was worse than the “orange card” (this is where the teacher calls home — we know all about those.) He said yes and I asked if he was sent to the principal’s office. He replied that the principal would be calling me.

I didn’t know what to do. I was in shock. I sent him to his room while I got a handle on myself.

Later I went into his room and we had a long talk about peer pressure and how he gave up alot just to be friends with this child, who isn’t really his friend. Oh it was a long one. I feel bad for him. I know he only wants to be accepted but at the same time, I know that he can’t kick other kids and I won’t tolerate that.

Where is that parenting instruction book?

He’s grounded for awhile. He can’t go to the movies with Julia on Sunday and we’ve put Matthew’s Kitchen on hold for now. (And I was just about finished with the freebie cookbook he was offering and had just installed the shopping cart.)

He was crying earlier when I left him and I just went in to check on him and he’s sound asleep. Oh this is part of being a parent that I don’t love, but I know that I can bring it up to his kids when he has them.

Peer Pressure Sucks…

I just don’t understand why other kids have to prey on kids like Matthew. He’s a good kid, with a heart of gold. I am mad at him but I feel for him at the same time. I was that kid too.

Until next time…

The WC — You’ll Never Know What It Says If You Don’t Subscribe

I have to tell you about The WC

It’s different…

It’s unique…

And it’s got a brand new style. :)

So, what is The WC? The WC is a mini magazine for moms in business. Each month it’s delivered to your MAILBOX! (No, not your inbox, not via eMail, not online…..it comes through the United States Postal Service!)

Here’s why it’s so great…

(a) It’s in your mailbox (that’s the box that’s outside of you house that normally only contains junk and bills…)
(b) you can hold it in your hands and read at your leisure…AWAY from the computer
(c) it’s written by moms, for moms…all who are working at home.
(d) it contains articles that you won’t find ANYWHERE else…at least not within the month that the WC comes out…
(e) advertising rates are very affordable…so if you’re targeting moms, or moms in business, I highly recommend looking into it.
(f) they make GREAT gifts for moms that you know who are currently working from home or for those that WANT to work from home…
(g) did I mention that you don’t have to be online to read it?

Let’s face it! We’re working from home. Our life line is in this box and many of us (most all that I know) are tied to this computer day in and day out. I used to read the newspaper, but I don’t know because I can get my news online. I used to read people, but why bother…they have a website.

The WC is a mini-magazine for moms (complete with recipes and kids puzzles!) that you can’t get online…so you’ll never know what it says unless you subscribe!

What are you waiting for? The February issue is about to be published! CLICK HERE for more information!

Until next time…

January Great Dane Meeting

Can you imagine 9 Great Danes? Yeah, neither could I until we all got together at Smith Park yesterday for about an hour and a half. Nine Great Danes and Rhoda…and Napolean is the smallest of them all, weighing in at 90lbs. (Well…I think he’s more now.)

Here are some pictures of our outing….

The Mommy Test

The Mommy Test

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

“Why?” my daughter asked.

“Because it’s been on the ground, you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty and probably has germs” I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, “Mommy, how do you know all this stuff?”

“Uh,” I was thinking quickly. “All moms know this stuff. It’s on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mommy.”

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. “OH…I get it!” she beamed, “So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the daddy.”

“Exactly” I replied back with a big smile on my face.

When you’re finished laughing, send this to a Mom.

the birthday girl!!

PS. I was just looking at Today’s Deep Thought there on the side bar:

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. ‘Oh, no,’ I said, ‘Disneyland burned down.’ He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

I put those on there because as a kid, Dad and I used to watch Saturday Night Live and we used to LOVE Jack Handy and his deep thoughts. I can remember when I saw that one on TV the first time…LOVE IT!

45 minutes left as a 28 year old…

I’ve got 45 minutes, well 42 if you want to get technical…

Then I’m 29.

I think it bothers me more that Matthew is turning 9 than me turning 29, however, the fact of the matter is…we are.

There you have it.

Here are some of the reasons I know that I’m getting old:

  • I refer to teenagers as “those darn teenagers”
  • My kids are interested in things I don’t “get” (i.e. Yu-gi-oh, etc)
  • My Christmas list consisted of a new trashcan, a can opener, and a pop corn popper
  • I haven’t been watching the mailbox every day for a week waiting for the mailman to bring me cards…for the record, I’ve gotten one.
  • I’m not excited that tomorrow is my birthday. I could care less. It’s just a Monday in my mind.
  • I got excited about going to Lowe’s today
  • I was even more excited about my new foyer.

I could go on and on, but I won’t. I know 29 isn’t old. But still…

Anywho…here’s a picture of my new foyer…

New foyer

Didn’t he do a nice job??????

So I’m off…I’ve got 35 minutes left…might as well enjoy it…

I’m going to read!

Until next time…

Fun with the dogs…(yes, we have no life)

So, my best friend Jackie came over to take me out for my birthday…we went to Outback and then came back to the house…(I’m old, what can I say!)

We’ve done this before, but tonight I got to get it on camera!

Tim takes his hooded sweatshirt and puts it on the dogs…and they just hate it and can’t walk right and it’s hysterical…the kids want to send this into America’s Funniest Home Video!

You’ll see!

Watch!!

Then…we tried it on Napolean…we’ve never done it to him before!

You probably think we’re cruel, but we never would do anything to hurt them! Really!!

It’s Shake and Bake…and I Helped!

Remember that commercial for Shake ‘n Bake? The one with the little girl who had a REALLY cheesy smile and the REAL strong southern accent?

Well, we like Shake ‘n Bake and the other night, Samara was making it and so I made her say it…

ROFL!!!!

See for yourself…

The sad part about it is she just thinks it’s dumb, while I’ve seen the commercial…so I guess if you haven’t seen the commercial, you’d think it’s dumb too…lol

Until next time…

Soap Suds and Girls Calling…

What a day! The kids went back to school today and Tim enjoyed the day together before they got home and he needed to take Regan home. While Matthew was at Destination Imagination, the phone rang and when I answered it was Julia looking for Matthew. A girl calling? He’s barely 9!

Julia’s a household name though…they’ve been in the same class for the past 2 years and she’s been the topic of conversation many times. My only smile came when he was too busy doing homework and planting his chia pet to call her back. (I know he likes her…I think he was afraid of getting teased!)

After Tim left I was working and Samara decided that she was going to mop the floors. We had the bucket of water sitting out all day because it was raining and the dogs made a mess when they came in from outside, so I guess that’s what gave her the idea. I happened to walk into the bathroom and was swimming in soap suds. There was water and suds EVERYWHERE.

I asked her what kind of soap she used and she held up the Dawn and said this. I do know that the bottle was 75% full when I finished the dishes this morning…and when I looked it was 1/2 full. That and she was using the wring mop which is too heavy for her to wring.

So I went to the kitchen to get the dirty towels to help mop up the water and encountered the same issue in the kitchen! That’s my little helper!!!

Until next time…
